²⁰ However, some of them paid no attention to Moses; they kept part of it until morning, but it was full of maggots and began to smell.^(A) So Moses was angry^(B) with them.

²¹ Each morning everyone gathered as much as they needed, and when the sun grew hot, it melted away.

²⁷ Nevertheless, some of the people went out on the seventh day to gather it, but they found none.

³² All that day and night and all the next day the people went out and gathered quail. No one gathered less than ten homers.^[a] Then they spread them out all around the camp.

³³ But while the meat was still between their teeth^(A) and before it could be consumed, the anger^(B) of the Lord burned against the people, and he struck them with a severe plague.^(C)

²⁰ They shall say to the elders, “This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious. He will not obey us. He is a glutton and a drunkard.”

²¹ Then all the men of his town are to stone him to death.^(A) You must purge the evil^(B) from among you. All Israel will hear of it and be afraid.^(C)
